Hi, I’m Ann Carruthers, Director of Environment
and Transport. Thanks for all your posts on social media about grass cutting recently.
We’re very aware that the public views on grass cutting is changing and moving more
from ‘Our area’s got to look tidy, can you cut our grass please?’ to more of an interest
in wildlife and biodiversity. If you’ve got an area in your community that you’d like
to see retained for wildlife, please talk to your parish council, they can liaise with
us about arrangements this season. Looking forward to next year, we’re reviewing what
our grass cutting regime will be and how we can better support biodiversity and wildlife
across our communities, while still meeting our highways safety requirements. We’ll keep
you up to date with our plans.
