This is so cold!!! BAD WEATHER CHECK for your evation drive system Hi, my name is Michael from Fazua and I will show you how to get your evation drive system through the winter. Okay, before we begin, I first need a sip! Okay, that’s enough. Looks stupid, and indeed is stupid. Fact no. 1: You saw that I can drink from this Drivepack. Conversely, this means that water can accumulate in it. Just like a jar. So, when you put your battery in here, always make sure that it’s clean and dry. You also don’t throw your hair dryer in the bathtub and then wonder why it doesn’t work anymore. There is electrical connections here and here, which need to be dry So first make sure that the Drivepack is dry inside, you then can put the battery inside, turn the battery on and then you can have fun with your bike. Tip no. 2: It’s an issue, when the drivepack is clipped into the frame and your front wheel keeps shovelling dirt and grime and all the other winter-related goodies against your downtube. Water can indeed enter between battery and Drivepack. Exactly for this case, we have put a drainage into the radiator. This means that water which enters during your ride can exit again. However, if the radiator is so dirty that the drainage is blocked, the water cannot exit. This means you will have the same issue with water intrusion, when inserting the battery. So please check if the radiator is clean before going for a ride or before changing the battery. When the radiator is clean, water can drain from the Drivepack, which means you won’t get any water issues in the first place. Tip no. 3: The same things you need to take care of in summer also apply to winter riding. Your front wheel keeps shovelling dirt and grime from the road or the forest floor all over your downtube And even if it’s only a short ride, especially in winter, everything is wet, there is thawing salt everywhere. Please never ride without something protecting your downtube! If you want to ride without motor assistance, remove the Drivepack and put this wonderful Downtube Cover (which you can buy in our online shop) inside. Put it in and the whole downtube part is protected especially your bottom bracket will thank you for this. Never ride with an unprotected downtube. Tip no. 4 You guessed it, this tip is about another connection point. This time, it’s the connection between Drivepack and bottom bracket Here, not only the mechanical drive power is transferred from the motor to the bottom bracket gearbox, but also an electrical connection is located here. This means once again, if there is dirt on it, the parts cannot communicate with eachother So please make sure that the plug on the bottom bracket as well as on the Drivepack is clean. This way, these two can communicate with eachother and everything is fine Tip no. 5 While we are already talking about getting our drive system fit for the winter, let’s go all in! On our homepage you can always find the latest firmware which you can transfer to your Drivepack using this port or your Fazua Servicepartner. Very important! Afterwards, please make sure that the USB cap is screwed back on. It’s not enough, if you put it back in place. Admittedly, it will stay on, but it has to be screwed back on. Then the sealing gasket will get enough pressure and you can ride through the wet and dirt. Just some general maintenance tips: If you want to clean your drive system or your whole bike, it is best to remove the Drivepack and the battery. This way, you can wash the bike separately and clean the Drivepack and the battery with a wet cloth or a brush. That’s the best way. If you are not planning to use the battery for a long time in winter, when it’s too cold or unpleasant to ride. Please charge the battery to 30%-60% and store it at room temperature. This will lead to a longer lifespan.
