Guess what we’re doing today! Valentine’s day is just around the corner.
You guys had been asking us for another
treat video. We are making a Valentine’s day themed
treat video. Let’s get to it! (To the dogs)
Do you want some treats?
That’s sound amazing? Does it looks like it smells amazing,
according to Shelby.
How about you Memphis? Let’s get to it! ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ We’re Gone To The Snow Dogs ♪
“Aroooooo!” Today, we are making some Valentine’s treat videos.
Before we even get into the treats,
I’m going to point this out. NOT CHOCOLATE! CAROB!
NOT CHOCOLATE! CAROB!
We got that? Everytime I make a video where I use ‘carob powder’
because it looks like cocoa powder and looks
like chocolate powder, but is not! Is carob and is OK for dogs!
Really! I swear this!
I had made treats with it before! Is all good! As always you guys, if you want to see more of our treat videos, there will be a link down in the video
description below and up in the cards above. We had done quite a few ones, including some other Valentine’s day ones. This one was actually one of the very first treat videos we ever did. We did one similar to this and I’m kind of recreating it, because it was done seven (7) years ago.
Is time to recreate it and give it a little bit of a twist. I will try something new and see if it works!
Yeah! That’s what we’re doing!
Let’s get to it! First, will take a small bowl and we’re going to mix together all our dry ingredients.
Except for the ‘carob powder.’ This dough, we’re gonna try and make two (2) different colors and will hope this works.
We’re gonna add it later. Right now, you are going to need one (1) and a half (1/2) cups of whole wheat flour.
I should had got a bigger bowl! A half (1/2) cup of old fashioned oats.
Not the quick ones!
Old fashioned ones! (To Memphis)
I know you like! You are like… (Memphis talks)
“Can I have an oath?”
I know you like those! Don’t you? (To Oakley)
You want an oat? How do you even taste it?
Want some? You stepped on Shelby! I know! (To Shelby)
Shelby! Want some? Shelby?
Shelby? Would you like to try an oat? (Shelby talks)
“No!” And a half (1/2) teaspoon of baking powder.
(Oven alarm rings) Oven’s pre-heated!
Oh yeah! Pre-heat your oven to 300F (150C).
Don’t forget that part! This is optional! You don’t have to put it in, if you don’t
want to. My dogs had it before and is good for them. I’m adding one (1) tablespoon of ‘flax seeds.’
Do you guys, think I have an accent?
Do I have a Michigan accent? Tell me, down in the comments below!
I was reading about it the other day and I was
informed, I have an accent! You guys would known,
cause you watched me enough! I’ll whisk all this stuff together!
Would you like to try some stuff that is not cooked? (Memphis talk)
“Yeah! I just want to try stuff that’s not cooked!”
You are gonna drink the water? Did you see the look on her face?
“That was boring!”
(Laughter) In the big bowl, we’re going to add
a half (1/2) a cup of water. One (1) egg!
These we’re actually ‘cage free’ organic eggs. They we’re farm fresh eggs.
I had a few of these left, to get rid of
before I go, to my farm for fresh eggs from my friend. And a tablespoon of honey. You can either measure it out or take a guess. I’m pretty good at guessing measurements and had done it so much! That way, I don’t have to clean up
the mess on the spoon! (Dog talk)
“But we don’t get…”
OK, fine! I’ll put some for you, but not a lot!
Just a little to cover the spoon! (To Memphis)
Like some honey?
“Yeah!” (To Oakley)
Like some honey? (To Shelby)
How about you Shelby? Shelby is really here!
I promise! (To Shelby)
Want to try some honey?
“No! Give me the treats when they’re done!” Right here Oakley! (To Shelby)
Wanna try some now?
“No!” Now, we’re gonna mix the wet ingredients for just a little bit, so they can have the egg mixed and whipped up. We’re slowly gonna add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and then, we’re actually going to split the dough and try to make two (2) different dough colors. Memphis is going to drink the beet juice!
We’ve never attempted this before! Hopefully it will work! Because we’re splitting the dough, I’m not mixing it all the way. It still pretty wet and we’re gonna take half (1/2) out of this bowl and placed in another bowl. Now, to this bowl, I’m adding the carob powder.
This is a quarter (1/4) of a cup of carob powder
and add it to this half dough. If it gets too dry, add a little bit more of water.
You want it to form a nice dough ball. (To Memphis)
You gotta wait!
(Laughter) You should end up with a dough ball
that looks nice and brownish in color.
Not super sticky! I added a little bit, about a tablespoon of water
to make it all comes together.
We set this aside… (Memphis talks)
“I’m gonna eat it!” Now, we’re taking the other dough ball
and put it back in here. Then add a little bit of beet juice.
About a tablespoon or so. I just had a can of beets and I poured
the juice from the can, into here.
We’re trying to bring this to a light red color. Because we added a bit more of moisture to this,
you may have to add a bit more flour to make it a good
dough again. I ended up, adding a little bit more flour to this and
knead it with my hands to get the colors go through.
Now, is a lot less sticky If you wanna use food coloring, you can. I’m using beet juice to get it a little bit pink. That doesn’t have to be super colored. But looks pretty good. Now, we have a pink dough ball and brown dough ball..
Got my favorite rolling pin ever! We’re rolling these out to a quarter (1/4) of an inch thick. I will include an Amazon affiliate link for the rolling pin, down in the video description below. I’m gonna take a little ball of this (Brown)
and a little ball of this (Pink).
This is definitively stickier than this! We’re not going to work it too much. Basically, we’re kind of working it out together a little bit Fold them a little and basically going from a marble look, put little bit of flour down, so it doesn’t stick too much. Knead it in there!
Knead it in there! Roll it out! You’ll end up getting too much flour on your dough. All you need is a little bit of water. When you put them in the oven, take a little bit of water and go over the top of it. It will get the white off there! Now, you can see it as we flatten it out, its got a little bit of marble color in it. Then we just gonna take a heart shaped cookie cutter and cut some of these out. You will end up with a marble… This one’s pink on the back! On the front, you will get lots of cool marble stuff. Mine is pretty good! I’m gonna keep doing this and fill up my cookie tray and bake these up in the oven at 300F (150C) for about twenty (20) to thirty (30) minutes. Just watch it from browning and if you want them super crunchy, just shut the oven off and leave it for a few more hours. It will crunch right up. That’s what we’re gonna do! Will continue to make some marble hearts. There they are! Will pop them in the oven and see, how they turn up kind of marble and kind of cool!
Let’s put them in the oven. This is all the dough I have left.
(To the dogs)
Wanna try some? (To Shelby)
Hey Shelby! Want to try some? (To Memphis)
I know you want some!
I know you want some! Let’s see if Shelby will try them!
Here Shelby! Oh! You’ll try the dough? (Shelby talks)
“I don’t want any of the other ingredients!
I just wanted the dough!” Here Oakley!
(Laughter) One more nibble?
One more nibble for Oakley! One more nibble for Memphis! One more nibble for Shelby! All the dough is gone! Except the stuff that sticks to my hands! Alright! Let’s put these in the oven. (To Memphis)
No! You are not eating the tray! A couple of hours later, our cookies are cool and out of the oven. If you want, you can give
them to your dogs just like this. If you have ‘Fido’s Frosting Royal Icing’
then, you can use that! Or, you can use the candy melting disk!
I bought some pink ones and red ones.
I’m going to melt these and drizzle on the cookies. These, do have sugar in them. But again, they are treats and is not something you feed your dog all the time. MODERATION is KEY! I’m putting some of these here and will make them a little bit more brightly colored! You can see as it was baked, the colors aren’t as bright as they where before. We’re gonna add some of these. Drizzle it on and see
how cute they will look. Then, after they cool again…
After that re-hardens… Then, the dogs can finally try them! I did not leaved them super long and not super crunchy.
Still got a little bit of get in the middle. (To Oakley)
